Immigrations and Customs Enforcement plans to sell warehouses in Hamburg, Berks County, and Tremont, Schuylkill County, along with five others that cost more than $700 million total, according to the New York Times.
The warehouses were to be used to detain immigrants before deportation. Some residents have objected, citing concerns about safety and demand for water and electricity. Some residents objected on humanitarian grounds.
