Gateway on 4th, a 120-unit apartment complex proposed for south Bethlehem, will go before Bethlehem’s Planning Commission on July 9.

Lehigh Valley Industrial Park acquired the former Szilagyi Fuel and Dancho site at 1400-14 E. Fourth St. and donated it for housing. LVIP has worked with the City of Bethlehem and Pennrose, a Philadelphia-based developer of affordable housing.

The proposal for East Fourth Street will include, according to a city statement from October, housing that “will be affordable to households earning at or below 60% of the area median income. In the Lehigh Valley, a family of four would need to earn $60,120 annually or less to qualify for these units.”

Documents submitted to the city show two 44-unit buildings and two 16-unit buildings on 3.7 acres.

State tax credits for housing will help pay for the first phase of construction.

The Bethlehem Planning Commission will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Town Hall. Meeting agendas are subject to change. Check the city website closer to the date.
