Northampton County Executive Tara Zrinski surprised a lot of people today when she proposed a 44% increase in property taxes for 2027.
That is for the county tax only, not school or municipal property taxes. They already went up.
County Council will hold several public budget hearings. Council can seek changes but the county Home Rule Charter, its Constitution, gives the Executive an advantage in setting the budget.
