Jersey Mike’s is close to opening at the Bethlehem Square shopping center off Route 191.

On Friday, a crew of at least four workers was putting the former Gamestop store in order. In the front, a sign for a countdown was up but the number of days to opening was not filled in.

Nearby, Bubbakoo Burritos has already opened at the former Subway sandwich shop.

The Jersey Mike’s to-be is not yet listed on the chain’s website.

The sandwich chain has a store at the Westgate Mall, a couple miles to the west. The chain has more than 4,000 shops open and under development, according to its website. Jersey Mike’s is expanding into Ireland and the United Kingdom.

In 2024, private equity funds managed by Blackstone agreed to acquire a majority stake in the chain. Founder Peter Cancro kept “a significant equity stake.”

Jersey Mike’s went public in July, with shares (NYSE:JMKE) selling for $23. The closing price Friday was $17.70, 23% below the Initial Public Offering (IPO) price. At that price, the company has a market capitalization of $5.6 billion.

So take your choice: a jumbo sandwich, or one share of stock?

Disclosure: I own shares in Jersey Mike’s.
