Shares of Six Flags (NYSE:FUN) tumbled today after a death at Six Flags Over Georgia and a report from the Associated Press that nine roller coasters at other parks were closed as a precaution.
The shares fell $2.04 to $9.88 as of 10:28 a.m. today. The 52-week high was $27.37.
Six Flags is the owner of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township. The company was formed in 2024 when Six Flags combined with Cedar Fair, then owner of Dorney.
None of the reported closings involve Dorney rides.
The company carries about $5 billion in debt. Financial results since the combination have been poor, and activist investor Jana Partners has pushed for a sale of the entire company, the Wall Street Journal has reported.
Six Flags has sold parks since the 2024 deal, and management has said earlier that other sales may be considered.
The amusement-park operator closed its X2 roller coaster last month after multiple reports of injuries.
