A former PNC Bank property in Bath that will become a Wawa store has been sold for $1.25 million.

Northampton County records say the 202 N. Walnut St. site covers 3.8 acres. The buyer is Bath Development, a limited liability corporation that is linked to Summit Realty Advisors in Ambler, Pennsylvania.

The county recorded the sale by PNC to Bath Development on June 8.

The Borough of Bath’s Zoning Hearing Board approved plans for a Wawa with gas pumps at the property last year.

Placing a Wawa on a property makes the land a lot more valuable. In 2023, the 741 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, Wawa property was sold for $4 million.

The Delaware County, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain looks at the number of potential customers and traffic when selecting store locations.

Wawa has grown from its roots as an iron foundry in New Jersey, then a dairy business into a chain with more than 1,100 stores.

PNC closed the North Walnut Street branch in 2024. The Pittsburgh-based bank and others have closed branches, while some smaller banks and Chase Bank have opened more.
