Freemansburg is looking for bids for waste hauling and pick-up of recyclable material.

The borough’s hauler now is Whitetail Disposal, which is owned by Casella Waste Systems (NASDAQ:CWST).

Freemansburg has a single-hauler system. According to the borough’s website, “A single large contract can negotiate lower prices with waste disposal facilities, potentially leading to reduced costs for residents compared to multiple smaller haulers competing in the same area.”

Interested companies have until 4 p.m. on July 28 to submit bids. Details about the process are posted on the borough website.

Whoever wins the contract will serve a canal town with a population of about 2,900. The borough is seeking bids for three- and five-year contracts.

Here’s what they will have to do, in short:

“The scope of the Work shall include the curbside collection, transport, and disposal of MSW, and Recyclables if applicable, from all Residential Dwelling Units, Non-Residential Dwelling Units, and any other property covered by this contract that is located within the Borough” and specifications follow.

Big companies in addition to Casella that handle municipal waste include Waste Management (NYSE:WM), Republic Services (NYSE:RSG), Waste Connections (NYSE:WCN) and GFL Environmental Holdings (NYSE:GFL).
