The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will review a request by PPL Corp. to install new power lines in Upper Macungie Township.
The plan, submitted May 1 by PPL, is to bring more power to Tek Park. That industrial/technology park in Upper Macungie was once home to Bell Labs. The property is now owned by TierPoint, a St. Louis-based company that acquired its first data center in 2010, according to its website.
Since then, the company says it has “built a portfolio of facilities that include 40 world-class data centers across 20 U.S. markets, coast-to-coast.”
The Public Utility Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, in Hearing Room #1 on the second floor of the Commonwealth Keystone Building, 400 North St., Harrisburg.

The Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors is also due to discuss TierPoint at its meeting Thursday evening.

Data centers should supply their own power. New transmission lines will be paid for and maintained by the public once again, screwing the public.
