Shares of Six Flags (NYSE:FUN) fell to a 52-week low of $11.91 today.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Jana Partners, which owns about 9% of the company, is pushing for a sale.

The activist investor recruited Travis Kelce of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs as part of their push to improve results at the amusement-park operator, which owns Dorney Park in South Whitehall Township.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair combined in 2024 for what looks like a bad deal now. The company carries about $5 billion in debt.

There have been management changes and park sales but the shares keep going down.

Activist investors such as Jana buy stakes in companies and then push for changes to push up the share price.

So far, Dorney’s owner has been a big dud.

Disclosure: I own shares in Six Flags. When does the fun start?
