Palmer Township will review a proposed Chick-Fil-A restaurant on 25th Street and the second phase of the new Easton Area High School next Tuesday.
The Planning Commission will look at the fast-food restaurant, set for development at the former Rite-Aid, 601 S. 25th St., and the high school nearby.
Both proposals were on earlier agendas and deferred.
Chick-Fil-A is known for sandwiches, waffle fries and not opening on Sundays, in keeping with the Christian values of the Cathy family, which owns the chain. Chick-Fil-A was founded in 1967 in Georgia by S. Truett Cathy. There are more than 3,000 locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
The restaurant chain seeks to open at the former Rite Aid. The drugstore chain went bankrupt twice, finally closing all stores in 2025.
The Easton Area School District plans a new $298 million high school off 25th Street. Phase 1 focused on sports fields, while Phase 2 is about the new school, due to open in August 2030.
Palmer Township will review the building plan, including but not the cost of the school. That was set by the Easton Area School District board of directors.
The Palmer Township Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the municipal building, 3 Weller Place.
The commission’s agenda includes reports on a new Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, known as SALDO.
